Do You Draw Miki Muster?

2. December 2025–25 April 2026, NUK Exhibition Room

To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miki Muster (1925–2018), the beloved Slovenian comic book creator and remarkable illustrator, who has influenced multiple generations of readers and viewers, the National and University Library is joining the celebrations with the exhibition Do You Draw Miki Muster?

The exhibition presents selected material from NUK’s extensive collections alongside an exceptional donation from Ciril Gale, a long-time publisher and connoisseur of Muster’s work. Visitors will be able to admire Muster’s comic book classics featuring Zvitorepec, Trdonja and Lakotnik – characters that have become part of Slovenia’s collective memory – as well as rare publications, book illustrations and original drawings that showcase his mastery, creative range and lifelong devotion to the art of drawing. Special attention is also devoted to Muster’s pioneering work in animated film, which played a key role in shaping early Slovenian animation, from short cartoons to iconic advertising messages.

The NUK exhibition is complemented by a parallel display at the City Museum of Ljubljana, which focuses more closely on Muster’s life, personal journey and artistic development. Together, the two exhibitions offer a comprehensive insight into the life and work of an artist whose distinctive style, humour and critical edge profoundly influenced Slovenian visual culture of the 20th century.

Step into the exhibition and enter the magical world of Miki Muster – an artist who became a legend with every line he drew.
