The monograph National and University Library: Preserving Thoughts – for 250 Years was created in the celebratory year of 2024, marking a quarter of a millennium since the beginnings of the library. This publication provides an overview of significant historical milestones and the activities undertaken by the library. Presented in a three-part structure (collecting, preserving, disseminating), it outlines the past and current operations of the library as well as a look towards the future. The texts are accompanied by selected visual materials from events, presentations, NUK's collections, and premises, alongside reflections from staff and engaging statistical overviews.

This book complements the events and exhibitions celebrating the 250th anniversary of the National and University Library. Both the publication and the exhibition were developed as part of the National and University Library program funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
