The Film Collection comprises Slovenian, and to some extent foreign, feature films, documentaries and animated films on various media. The collection is complemented by videocassettes and DVDs with educational, promotional, cultural or other content produced by Slovenian publishers. The variety of materials held in the Film Collection includes also the basic study and reference material, film leaflets, posters, film sheet music, manuscripts of screenplays and other types of material related to the Slovenian film and the Slovenian film makers.
Areas of Responsibility:
- completing the videocassette and DVD collections, with a focus on Slovenian and co-produced films, as well as foreign films with participation of Slovenes,
- collecting diverse material highlighting the dimensions of the Slovenian film heritage before and post war periods, and during Slovenia’s independence,
- collecting reference material and key monographic publications on the theory and history of cinema,
- bibliographic processing of film material,
- scientific research and educational work,
- providing information to users about the material kept in the Film Collection, and film material held in other special collections of the National and University Library,
- involvement in the development of the National and University Library's digitisation policy.
