NUK is the library of all Slovenes - it collects, processes, stores and distributes fundamental national collection of all library material in the Slovenian language, of Slovenian authors, about Slovenia and written by Slovenes.
Slovenian Diaspora Publications Collection
We are aware that material created by Slovenes living outside Slovenia’s borders is also part of the slovenika (the national collection). Therefore, the library is systematically collecting written works and other material formed on other media by Slovenes or their descendants outside Slovenia. You are invited to hand over your material to the National and University Library to be stored for the future generations. Electronic material can be submitted via the Svarog portal.

An important part of the library’ mission is to ensure the accessibility of the material, especially to Slovenes living outside Slovenia’s border. Therefore, the library offers them a free membership in order to get access to the Biblos collection where original Slovenian literary, professional and translated works into Slovenian are available.
