Library Research Centre provides co-ordination and implementation of research and development in the fundamental areas of library and information science.

Areas of Responsibility

• Promotion of research, development and advocacy within library and information activities in the framework of regular and project work.
• Creation of a detailed set of rules for preparing bibliographic records to maintain the consistency within the Slovenian Union Catalogue.
• Determining competency of libraries and other library and information organizations in order to co-operate in the Union Catalogue.
• Concern for the quality control and edition of bibliographic records in the Slovenian Union Catalogue.
• Preparation of background documents for general legal provisions in the field of librarianship.
• Preparation of background documents for the library and information system.
