The main task is the compilation and publication of the Slovenian National Bibliography as outlined in the Act of Librarianship.
Areas of Responsibility
- To collect and process the material for the compilation and publication of the current Slovenian National Bibliography (books, journals and other library material).
- To collect and process the material for the compilation and publication of the retrospective Slovenian National Bibliography (books, journals and other library material).
- To edit the records in the COBIB shared bibliographic database.
- To edit the records in the CONOR Authority Name Database.
- To develop bibliographic databases for other institutions (ministries, Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia) and for the international databases.
- To co-operate in the development of metadata for the Digital Library of Slovenia.
- To co-operate in the further development of library science.
- To provide advice and counsel in the field of bibliography.
- To provide training for Slovenian librarians.
- To provide reference and information services.
