COSEC: access to knowledge through cooperation
The services of Consortium, used by its members, bring benefits to a large
number of the inhabitants of Slovenia. Internationally recognized scientific and technical contents are
available remotely to 98,747 students, researchers and staff at the University of Ljubljana, University
of Maribor, University of Nova Gorica and the Primorska University, and the employees of twelve public
research institutes. On the basis of the services provided by the COSEC Consortium, collections for a
more general public are also available to 501,650 members of public and some special libraries in the
field of culture. As the first library consortium in Slovenia, COSEC associates with other national
consortia in Eastern and Southeastern Europe. It is also a member of eIFL, the world’s biggest library
international consortium. This allows it to pool its purchasing power with other organizations around
the world, thus providing the Slovenian users with high-quality information resources at the most
favourable prices. |
